Dubai Mall, the largest shopping center in Dubai, is about to get even bigger. Emaar Properties announced on Monday a massive Dh1.5 billion expansion plan for Dubai Mall, which will add 240 new luxury stores and food and beverage outlets. The contractor is already mobilizing on-site for this extensive project.
Mohamed Alabbar, Emaar’s founder, shared his excitement about the project, stating, “The new Dubai Mall expansion is a great addition to one of the most visited sites in the world. It reflects Dubai’s ambitious vision to remain at the forefront of global innovation and culture, further solidifying our city’s position as a top global destination.”
In 2023, Dubai Mall set a new attendance record, becoming the most visited place on Earth with 105 million visitors, a 19% increase from the previous year.
Currently the world’s second-largest shopping mall, Dubai Mall spans 1.2 million square meters and already features more than 1,200 retail outlets.
In previous announcements, Alabbar revealed plans for another innovative mall in Dubai Creek Harbor, which will allow customers to drive through it in electric cars. This new development will also include a tower referred to as the “female Burj Khalifa.”
